Positive:
The employees in the restaurant.
Negative:
We had high expectations for our stay at Quartier Libre Madeleine, but our experience was severely disrupted by poor management and a complete lack of professionalism. Despite emailing the hotel well in advance to explain that we were traveling as a family and did not want to change rooms during our stay, they insisted on moving us halfway through, claiming it was an “upgrade” to a larger room with a big balcony.
That turned out to be a lie.
We were asked to pack our belongings and told the staff would transfer everything while we were out for the day. Thankfully, we decided to return earlier to check the new room and what we found was shocking. The room was much smaller than the original, had a low ceiling, and was clearly a downgrade. When we asked to return to our original room, we were told it was no longer available even though we saw it being cleaned to host another family. They then tried to cover it up with another lie, saying there was a “technical problem” in the room.
To make matters worse, when we called the staff to express our dissatisfaction, the person on the phone was completely unprofessional and unapologetic. They even suggested that if we were unhappy, they could refund us and essentially leave us out on the street with two children in the middle of our holiday in Paris. This level of disregard for guest well-being is absolutely unacceptable.
This experience was deeply frustrating and entirely avoidable. The dishonesty, poor communication, and dismissive attitude we faced cast a shadow over what should have been a joyful family trip. We expected much better from an establishment of this reputation.
We finally were moved to another room which is better than the proposed one but of course less better than the one given initially.
Dishonesty of staff. Unprofessional way of handling things.
